The Pyroclastic Red-Dragon (Sinabung Volcano)

More than 33,000 villagers have been evacuated since authorities raised the alert status for the volcano to the highest level in November 2013. An eruption in 2010 killed two people and caught scientists off guard because the volcano had been quiet for four centuries.

According to authorities hundreds of residents are still housed at evacuation centers as authorities maintains off limit danger zone around Mount Sinabung located in Indonesia’s Sumatra islands following deadly eruption in early February 01, 2014 that killed about 17 people.

Prior the geological sciences becoming an applied of disaster mitigation, symptoms mount Sinabung volcano has never been recorded by a factual data until the last erupting in 2010. Became in ancient times the local wisdom, Karo trust the symbolizes hot lava/giant ash cloud as the legend of the Red-Dragon.

 

Entering the century of research The United States Geological Survey found the Holocene volcano or the wide Toba caldera, partially filled by waters of Sumatra’s Lake Toba, is Earth’s largest Quaternary caldera. That research continued an eruption history also leaving Samosir island in the middle of Lake Toba that is part of a block-kitchen of magma Mount Toba that lifted the taxable Toba eruption approximately 74,000 years ago.
